Good Questions to Ask While Reading the Bible
Medieval theologians and biblical students developed the fourfold method of reading Scripture. The next time you read a section of the Bible ask the following questions:
1.) What happened in the passage?
2.) What does the passage want to me to believe?
3.) What does the passage want me to do?
4.) What does the passage want me hope for?
–Or–
In more recent times the Disciple I Bible Study invites us to ask three questions when reading Scripture:
1.) What does this passage say about God?
2.) What does this passage say about humanity?
3.) What does this passage say about the relationship between God and humanity?
